As you probably know by now, I’ve been trying to eat cleaner these days. Clean eating is really a basic concept: eat more real or whole foods. I’m trying to avoid processed, refined food (fast food or packaged, ready to heat), so that means more vegetables, fruit, nuts, whole grains, oils, hormone-free dairy, eggs, meat, etc. The fewer ingredients on the label the better. Processed foods are stripped of nutrients and some of those foods have been linked to cancer, infertility, etc. YUCK!
I am not an expert but would highly recommend the book, It Starts with Food: Discover the Whole30 and Change Your Life in Unexpected Ways. It promotes how to incorporate a 30 day nutritional reset, which teaches you how your body responds to certain foods. What I like most about this book is that it explains the science behind food in terms you can understand.
Thanks to Pinterest there are a ridiculous amount of recipes out there! I thought I would compile 50 of the best recipes into one post. I am always looking for recipes that are easy for on the go or busy people so most of these fit that criteria.
BREAKFAST: Most of the time I eat eggs, oatmeal, or drink smoothies. Here are some great recipes to help you get started.
LUNCH: I usually eat salads, lean meats, fruit, veggies, or drink smoothies. I love putting salads in mason jars as it’s easy to meal prep and quick to just grab and go. The first one is a recipe I tried this week. Even though it’s not Fall, the salad was super yummy!
DINNER: I usually switch it up each week with dinner but I try to eat a lean protein with veggies. I also have eaten beef stew, chili, and this week it’s yummy pork carnitas (see the first recipe for details). This has to be one of my favorite dinners so far! The cilantro dressing is amazing!
SNACKS: I usually eat fruit, veggies, lean meat, cheese, fruit or Greek Yogurt for my snacks.
I want to improve my health and take care of myself and eating clean is the first way to do that. I hope these recipes help as you go to plan your next clean meal. Eating clean doesn’t have to be complicated. What are some of your favorite clean recipes?
